"Don't be alarmed", he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!  He is not here, see the place where they laid him." Mark 16:6

Welcome to April's Out of the Pit Newsletter!

I trust that you all had an enjoyable and relaxing Easter break.  The combination of ANZAC day and Easter was truly a time where we can give thanks for all of the blessings that we have in this life, and the promises of life to come.

This month we're focusing on Out of the Pit, encouraging you all to head to the website, chat with people in the forum, meet up with people in your area through the network groups and post interesting articles or questions you have.

Until next month,
OOTP Happenings
Have you been to the website recently?

There are some new people who have signed on, and introduced themselves in the forum.  The forum is a great place to encourage each other, meet new people, and share our struggles and successes in serving Jesus in the Mining Industry.

On the website are also a series of Bible Studies on serving God in our every day lives.  Do you ever feel a little inferior because you have chosen to work in the secular workforce, rather than in ministry?  Do you wonder how to go about being a Christian in the work place?  If you are interested in seeing what the Bible has to say about these questions, download the Bible Studies at http://www.outofthepit.org/resources

Lastly, the third annual Out of the Pit conference will be held in Sydney, in the last weekend of September this year.  Lock it in your diaries now!  The previous conferences have been a great time of fellowship and encouragement as we meet together as Christians from around Australia.  This one promises no different!

"And when he had given thanks, be broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 1 Cor 11:24

It seems then, that Christians may forget Christ!  There could be no need for this loving exhortation, if there was not a fearful supposition that our memories may dwindle.  It appears almost impossible that those who have been redeemed by the blood of the dying Lamb and loved with an everlasting love should forget that gracious Saviour; but it is alas all too well confirmed in our experience.  Jesus who we should make an abiding tenant in our memory is but a visitor.  Does not your conscience say this is true? Do you not find yourselves forgetful of Jesus?

Let us charge ourselves to binf Jesus on our hearts for Jesus is our Beloved, and whatever else we forget in life, whatever else we let slip, we should hold fast to him!

Please pray for
  • A sense of community for all Out of the Pit members
  • Those who we work with who are struggling with alcoholism, gambling and other problems, that we might be a light for them
  • The 2011 Out of the Pit conference

Thank God for
  • The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, taking the penalty for our sins
  • The resurrection of Jesus, and the new life he brings
  • The support we receive from our Christian friends, family and churches
  • The freedom we enjoy in Australia where we are safe to worship Jesus
