"He lifted me out of the mud and mire and set my feet on a rock"

The 2010 Out of the Pit Conference is only 1 month away!

If you haven't heard about it yet, this year we are gathering in Kalgoorlie on the 15th & 16th of October.  The weekend promises to be a great time of fellowship, as we hear from God's word, worship together and hear from various ministries serving the mining community.  We  welcome to the OOTP conference this year Dick Scallan, Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Hannans Reward.  Dick is a Mining Engineer with 54 years of experience in underground and open cut mining and exploration in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Australia.  Dick will be the Keynote Speaker at the conference - along with a couple of other surprises thrown in, and it promises to be a great weekend.  I hope you've already encouraged the Christians around you to come along!  For more information, please contact Jonnene on 08 9022 2095 or email kal2010@outofthepit.org.

Until next month, safe safe and God bless,

Work as Ministry
Do you ever feel slightly inferior that you work in a job in the mining industry rather than working in full time ministry?  Do you ever feel pressure to throw in your secular job, and answer the call to take up ministry?

What does God have to say about this?  What distinctions did Jesus make while he was working and ministering on Earth?

In this, the first in a series of short Bible Studies written by Kara Martin, we explore the separation that many of us have in our lives between our secular jobs and our spiritual lives.  Download the study from our website here.

"So that you may become blameless and pure, children of God, without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe"

We use lights to make things clear.  A Christian should so shine in his life, that a person could not live a week with him without knowing the gospel.  His conversation should be such that all who are around him should clearly perceive who he is, and who he serves.
Lights are intended for guidance.  We are to help those around us who are in the dark.  We are to hold forth to them the Word of life.  We are to point the sinners to the Saviour, and the weary to the divine resting place.

A Christian knows that there are many false lights shown everywhere in the world, and therefore the right light is needed. The wreckers of Satan are always abroad, tempting the ungodly to sin under the name of pleasure; they hoist the wrong light, be it up to us to put up the true light upon every dangerous rock, to point our every sin and know what it leads to, that we may be clear lights shining in the world.
